About The Equestrian Archives

Our Mission

Welcome to The Equestrian Archives, the ultimate repository for all things related to the world of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (Generation 4). This wiki is dedicated to cataloging every facet of the franchise’s expansive lore, from the officially canon sources to the creative additions made by fans.

The goal of the Archivum Equestrium is to preserve and share the rich history and diverse interpretations of the world of Equestria. Whether you’re looking for the official details of Equestrian magic or want to dive into the deep well of fan-created expansions, you’ll find it all here.

What We Cover

The Archivum Equestrium is divided into three main sections:

  • Canon – In this section, we collect every detail from the show, comics, books, and any other official materials that are deemed canonical. From character backstories to the intricate workings of Equestria, this is the most comprehensive section for all things official. If it’s part of the Friendship is Magic canon, it’s here.
  • Dubiously Canon / Non-Canon – Here, we include lore that’s official but exists in the realm of ambiguity or contradiction. This section includes material like licensed novels, promotional material, and statements by the show creators that may conflict with the core canon or may be interpreted differently by various fans. We also cover unofficial timelines and possible “what if” scenarios that exist in alternate continuities.
  • Fanon – The Fanon section is where we dive into the vast universe of fan-created content. This is where the community’s interpretations, expansions, and alternate takes on the MLP universe are showcased. We cover everything from the most famous fanfics to lesser-known headcanons, art, and world-building ideas that fans have contributed over the years.

However, not all fan content is accepted. We have guidelines for what qualifies:

Fanon Content Guidelines

  • Explicit Content: Fanfics containing explicit or graphic material are generally not covered. However, if such content is not the focus of the story and makes up less than 10% of the total word count (up to 250,000 words), we will include it. For works over 250,000 words, the percentage threshold drops for every additional 50,000 words, down to a minimum of 1%.
  • Crossovers: We do not cover traditional crossovers. These include fanfics or works where My Little Pony is combined with another entirely separate universe (e.g., Harry Potter or Star Wars). However, works like Fallout Equestria, which occur within the world of Equestria but incorporate other narrative elements (such as a Fallout-style apocalypse), are allowed. These are not traditional crossovers as they do not feature characters from another intellectual property.
  • Already Established Wikis: If a fanon work already has a comprehensive, dedicated wiki, we will not cover it on The Equestrian Archives. We want to focus on content that hasn’t been documented in-depth elsewhere. (Exception: TVtropes)

Why Contribute?

We are constantly updating and expanding The Equestrian Archives to include more pieces of the vast MLP lore. Whether you’re a fan of the show’s rich canon or someone who loves to dive deep into fanon interpretations, we encourage contributions to this ongoing project. If you have content to share or want to add your own unique twist to the lore, get in touch!

The Archivum is your space to explore, learn, and even help create a lasting legacy of the world of My Little Pony.
